Transform
Pier 29
Sightline transforms a vacant waterfront building into a home for arts and culture. Located at Pier 29 along the Embarcadero, Sightline is managed by real estate nonprofit Community Arts Stabilization Trust and reflects their commitment to creating equitable, accessible, and community-centered spaces for artists.
Designed as a flexible and evolving environment within an over-a-century-old municipal pier, Sightline reimagines urban public space—supporting exhibitions, performances, residencies, and community programs while prioritizing affordability for artists. Through collaboration, Sightline invites the Bay Area’s creative ecosystem and community to gather, experiment, and connect.

The Space
Sightline aims to provide affordable space for arts and culture by creating a safe, accessible environment for an otherwise underutilized municipal property that has sat vacant since 2013.
With over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space flanked by the Bay Area’s blue-green waters, Sightline is designed to morph as a “container” for the one-of-a-kind programming featured inside. The project is grounded in CAST’s commitment to equity, ensuring that artists, cultural workers, and communities who have historically faced barriers to space can gather, create, and be supported in meaningful ways.
Sightline is set to open to the public in early 2026.

Rental Opportunities
We offer a range of rental opportunities that balance community access with long-term sustainability. In keeping with our mission, a portion of the space is reserved for subsidized, community-centered events led by artists, nonprofits, and mission-aligned organizations. Sightline also welcomes rentals for corporate and private events, with revenue from these uses directly supporting community programming and the ongoing activation of Pier 29.
Together, this model allows Sightline to serve as both a welcoming public resource and a financially sustainable home for arts and culture.
Sightline is a space for everyone—and it can be yours for a special event, program, or party. Contact us below to inquire about renting space at Sightline or to submit your programming idea for consideration.

Our Story
04
Sightline grew out of CAST’s longstanding work to unlock underutilized public buildings for arts and culture. Beginning in 2023, CAST partnered with the Port of San Francisco to explore how Pier 29 could be activated in a way that was flexible, code-compliant, and community-centered. After more than a year of planning and collaboration, CAST was approved in 2025 as the master tenant and steward of the site.
Today, Sightline carries that momentum forward by opening the pier to artists and the community as a place to shape what comes next together. CAST envisions the site to provide a rare and profoundly intersectional space for diverse arts communities to come together in a shared space of mutual aid, co-learning and place-making. As the name suggests, Sightline represents a clarity of vision, expansive creativity and collaboration, and an endless horizon of possibilities.
